Like most parents, I spent months trying to fix the symptoms: swapping products, adjusting foods, testing environmental triggers, and even working with practitioners… only to watch the flare-ups return again and again. What started as a skin issue became the doorway into something much deeper. The turning point was discovering hidden mold in our home: a root cause I never imagined would impact our health so profoundly. We later learned we had been exposed long-term, and suddenly so many symptoms made sense. As we detoxed from mold and rebuilt Nolan’s gut, it became clear how beautifully interconnected the body really is: the gut, liver, lymphatic system, skin, and immune system are constantly talking to one another. At the same time, I realized something else: we had been living in ways that pulled us far from how human biology is meant to thrive. Through years of research, late-night studying, and hands-on experience with myself and my children, I began to see that eczema, intolerances, and histamine reactions aren’t random. They’re messages from the body asking us to slow down, simplify, nourish, and return to a more traditional way of living. A life rooted in real food, sunlight, daily rhythms, clean air, and a supported environment. Supplements helped a little, but they were never the whole picture. This is where our journey shifted. Instead of chasing quick fixes, I started looking back towards ancestral wisdom and the simple, foundational practices that support the body’s biology without overwhelm. Working with practitioners gave us helpful pieces, but I often felt like I was stitching together a puzzle without a full picture. That led me to take things into my own hands: moving beyond symptom management and into true root-cause healing. After becoming an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach years ago, I’m now continuing my education as an Integrative Health Practitioner so I can run functional lab testing: not only to be my son’s best advocate, but to help other families uncover why symptoms are happening and how to rebuild health through both modern tools and traditional, time-tested living. This journey changed our entire family. It grounded us. It brought us home to a slower, simpler, more connected way of living. The way our bodies are designed to. Like most parents, I went down the long road of trial and error, changing products, adjusting foods, testing environmental factors, even using practitioners help only to find that the flare-ups still returned. What started as a skin issue quickly became a deeper journey into understanding the body’s delicate balance. The turning point came when we discovered hidden mold in our home, something I never imagined could play such a profound role in our health. We later learned that we had been exposed to it long-term, and it wasn’t just affecting Nolan. As we began detoxing from mold and rebuilding Nolan’s gut, I realized how interconnected the body truly is; the gut, liver, lymph, and immune system all depend on one another. Working with multiple practitioners gave us bits of progress, but I often felt like I was piecing together fragments from every direction without a clear roadmap. Through years of research, late nights studying, and hands-on experience with myself and my children, I began to see how eczema, food intolerances, and histamine reactions are all messages from the body asking for balance and support. That’s when I decided to take things into my own hands and began moving beyond symptom management and into true root-cause healing. After earning my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certification years ago, I’m now continuing my education to become an Integrative Health Practitioner so I can run functional lab testing, not only to be my son’s best advocate, but to help other families uncover the why behind chronic symptoms and find practical, lasting solutions with confidence and clarity. My work is rooted in ancestral ways of nourishing the body, honoring its rhythms, and finding connection in the everyday. This retreat grew from a desire to make space for women to slow down, share warm meals, and feel cared for through the quiet of winter. As a mother of two beautiful kiddos, I know how easily our own needs can get tucked behind caring for everyone else. In my own life, I’m learning to make room for rest, a slower pace, and the things that help me feel like myself. That’s part of what makes this retreat so personal to me, a space where women can feel supported, set down some of what they carry, and receive the care they so often give. Together with my cohost, I’m bringing that vision to life through homemade food, fireside conversation, time in nature, and old traditions inspired and learned from my husband’s heritage. We’d love to welcome you for a weekend of rest, warm meals, and connection, and to share in that nourishment alongside you. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/60904814c36f271bf0903d49/7a3b2ac1-5a6a-4954-ae98-84f7fc74b8ee/IMG_3677.JPG Retreat - Meet Freskida: Freskida is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by day, where she works with children and families to create meaningful change by shaping environments where both kids and parents can thrive. At her core, she has always been a gatherer , someone who loves bringing women together around a table, sharing a beautiful meal, and creating space for genuine connection. Proud of her Albanian roots, family, culture, and tradition are an important part of who she is. She believes food is one of the most beautiful ways we share love and finds so much joy in cooking, setting a beautiful table, gathering women, and creating experiences that feel intentional and welcoming. Freskida is also a mother of a precious daughter. One of her biggest hopes is to show her daughter what it looks like to chase your dreams, make space for the things that bring you joy, and surround yourself with a village of people who support and inspire you. She wants her daughter to grow up knowing that you can build a life that feels true to you while still making room for family, friendship, and community. She is happiest when she is near body of water, waking up in early mornings, baking desserts and traveling the world. She loves long conversations, loud laughter, cooking for the people she loves, and gathering women around the table. She appreciates good food, beautiful spaces, and the simple things that make time together feel special. This retreat is an extension of what she loves most , bringing women together, creating a beautiful space to connect, and making sure everyone leaves feeling a little more connected to themselves and to each other.
